Jess moved to Boone from her hometown in Florida during the summer of 2005. She met Cody at a house party and talked his ear off about recently discovering how awesome hiking in the mountains was. He thoughtfully dropped off a local trail map in a brown paper bag on the doorstep of her apartment the next day with his phone number written on it.
After 5 years of dating, Cody finally popped the question. He planned an entire "Girlfriend Appreciation Weekend" down in Charleston, SC—a place they both love visiting—to propose on 11.11.2011. Jess had no idea what he was up to, it was a complete surprise!
Jess had major neck surgery not too long after they started dating. When Cody drove her down to Raleigh, NC for the procedure, stayed by her side in the hospital while she recovered, and nursed her back to health, she knew he was a keeper.
The engagement lasted for 3 years before Jess & Cody decided to plan their wedding day. They managed to pull off the impossible and planned their wedding in less than 3 weeks. Jess really wanted to get married on June 29th because their birthdays are April 29th (Cody) and September 29th (Jess) so their anniversary is right in the middle on the same date!
Jess & Cody had the honor of photographing their first wedding together in the summer of 2012. They were instantly hooked because of how much fun they had; it almost didn't feel like "work." They've had the pleasure of photographing over 100+ weddings together during the last 7 yrs.
Fast forward to a year later...while we saw each other at various times over the course of those 12-months, Cody didn't make a move until the following summer. Jess was dating a rock climber at the time but that didn't stop Cody from pursing her. He eventually won Jess' heart with handpicked wildflowers & good ol' fashioned persistence!
In 2010 Jess was laid off from her office job, so she decided to pursue her life-long passion of photography and created her own job doing what she loves most. She's been a full-time Boone, NC photographer since then!
Jess & Cody started slow-water kayaking when he won a new kayak in a raffle drawing. They paddled over 200+ miles in their first year of kayaking. They go at least once a week during spring/summer.
A WIFE + HUSBAND PHOTOGRAPHY DUO BASED IN BOONE, NC that documents adventurous love stories
You're likely getting married in the mountains because the High Country has special meaning to you and your partner. Maybe you met here while you were attending APP State or maybe you vacationed here with your parents as a kid. Whatever the reason, you can't imagine getting hitched anywhere else.
Our love story began in Boone, so we completely understand what makes it so special. We consider this magical place our FOREVER HOME because we love it that much! It's also one of the #1 reasons why we enjoy capturing wedding day celebrations here in the High Country. We know how much effort, love, and patience goes into maintaining a relationship and planning a wedding. We've been together for 13 years now (married for 5) and we are so honored to have the opportunity to document adventurous love stories for our couples since 2012.
We specialize in destination wedding photography here in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

I took a solo-trip to Hawaii for my 29th birthday back in 2009. It was a pretty big deal because I hadn't ever done anything like that before. As I drove all over Oahu, I experienced a sense of freedom that I had never felt before. Little did I realize that this trip would end up changing my life forever. I discovered that I craved more freedom in my everyday life. Not just while I was on a once-in-a-lifetime trip. It was on that island that I made a promise to myself: I would make my life better by pursuing what I was most passionate about in this world.
It was difficult for me to think about leaving a job that supported me for 5 1/2 years, but I was going to do it regardless of the risks involved. In the end, my boss made it "easy" by laying me off just 4 short months after I got back from Hawaii. At that point, the universe made it obvious as to what I should do next.
Nine amazing years later, here I am still doing what I love. Working for myself as a full-time Boone wedding photographer! It's the most rewarding job I've ever had the pleasure of doing. And I am honored that couples choose me + my hubby to capture their most epic adventures.

(where Cody proposed!)
Cody grew up on the outskirts of Atlanta, GA in a small town called Lilburn. He moved to the High Country in 2002 to attend Appalachian State University where he graduated with a degree in Biology. Jessica's hometown is Jacksonville, FL. She fell in love with the Boone area back in 2005 and decided to leave city life behind for good. It was in the mountains that Jessica pursued her long-held passion for photography. Boone, NC brought us together and we're celebrating 13 years of adventuring as a couple this summer. We love to call the NC mountains our home!

We were married on June 29, 2014 at an intimate brunch wedding/ceremony that we planned in only 3 weeks. True story! We call Boone, NC our home where we live with our 2 gray cats that we adopted, Moses (7 yrs old) & Solomon (2 yrs old). When we're not photographing awesome couples, you're likely to find us having beers at a local brewery (cider for me!), eating at one of our favorite restaurants in town, or adventuring around the Blue Ridge Parkway. Nearly every Sunday during the summer, you will find us paddling down the river in kayaks with friends. We feel so luck to call these mountains our home.
