Hey, hey, heyyyyy! My name is Jessica (aka Wayfaring Wanderer) and I am a free-spirited photographer who loves working with couples, individuals, and families who are committed to travel, adventure, and laid-back lifestyles. I've lived in the Boone, NC area since 2005 and I'm known for capturing the spirit of the folks I photograph—the expressions, gestures, and details that are outward expressions of our innermost selves. While I'm primarily a wedding + elopement photographer, I also love working w/ individuals/couples/families that are traveling to the High Country area to getaway to the mountains. I absolutely love what I do and am so grateful to work with some of the most amazing people in one of the most beautiful places EVAR. Let’s go on an adventure!
Having too much business used to be a bad thing for Vidalia, a Boone, NC restaurant located in the downtown area. Before their expansion took place they consistently had to turn away business because the dining room was at full capacity. While that was a good problem to have, reservations used to be required if you wanted a table at this highly regarded establishment. But now, with their newly renovated space, they have effectively tripled the seating so they can accommodate a lot more diners.
While the popular Boone, NC restaurant is much larger it still has the same intimate vibe and refined but casual feel. It’s a great place to have lunch or dinner and now with their full bar, you can also come in for drinks. Brunch at Vidalia is my favorite! I was there a few weeks ago to photograph their drool-worthy food and capture some interior shots for the new website they’re launching.
The transformation of the restaurant has been incredible. Sam and Alyce, the co-owners, have done a great job taking Vidalia to the next level. I love the unique artwork they have decorated the walls with and the wooden wine box elements they used to finish the bar and hostess area. One of the highlights of the restaurant that they kept intact was the open kitchen. It’s so entertaining to see the cooks doing their thing instead of working behind the scenes. They now have cozy seating available if you have to wait. Or you can grab a drink at the new copper-topped wrap around bar.
While the couple was nervous about making these big changes they were equally excited. With support from locals and tourists alike that flock to this restaurant for the quality service and the contemporary southern cooking they knew that this was a chance worth taking.
They also use local vendors when possible such as Basil’s Fresh Pasta & Deli’s homemade ravioli, fresh bread from Stickboy Bread Company, and products from Ashe Co. Cheese. The food is top notch and they use ingredients at the peak of their freshness. Sam, the executive chef, offers up innovative culinary creations that change with the seasons and his whims.
One of my favorite dishes to order is the chicken and waffles. Crispy skin, juicy chicken breast, savory sausage gravy, and a golden waffle that is perfectly cooked and fluffy. It’s heaven on a plate! Another favorite is the burger topped with two vidalia onion rings. Think you can handle it?
If you’re looking for a unique downtown Boone, NC restaurant to try that all foodies will appreciate, I would encourage you to visit Vidalia because it’s one of the best restaurants in Boone. I recommend it to anyone and everyone that asks where they should eat in the High Country while on vacation, or for a special occasion, or anytime, really! I also like to recommend this restaurant for private parties such wedding rehearsal dinners, too. They have a great space for entertaining that is separate from the main area of the restaurant.
Along with the renovation of the Boone, NC restaurant they have also transformed their online space and will be launching a new website SOON! I had the pleasure of photographing their delicious food and revamped restaurant so that they would have beautiful new images to use on their website and in their advertising. If you are in need of new photos to showcase your business whether you want food photos, updated headshots, pictures of you in action at work, etc. get in touch with me at wayfaringwanderer@gmail.com or give me a call at 828-773-8764.
