Hey, hey, heyyyyy! My name is Jessica (aka Wayfaring Wanderer) and I am a free-spirited photographer who loves working with couples, individuals, and families who are committed to travel, adventure, and laid-back lifestyles. I've lived in the Boone, NC area since 2005 and I'm known for capturing the spirit of the folks I photograph—the expressions, gestures, and details that are outward expressions of our innermost selves. While I'm primarily a wedding + elopement photographer, I also love working w/ individuals/couples/families that are traveling to the High Country area to getaway to the mountains. I absolutely love what I do and am so grateful to work with some of the most amazing people in one of the most beautiful places EVAR. Let’s go on an adventure!
These custom wood photo boxes were handcrafted with the idea of housing precious keepsakes such as photos, prints, or other types of memorabilia. If you’re anything like me and you’ve been collecting old photos over the years chances are that you have pictures in ziplock bags, stuffed away in drawers, or loosely arranged in albums. If I wanted to find a particular image of me from my youth it would be nearly impossible since these mementos are sprinkled all over my house. Does this sound familiar? If so, a custom wood photo box may be the perfect home for those displaced memories.
I commissioned the owner of Ox Woodworx to create a custom wood photo box line that I could offer to my past and present clients because I know that some folks want tangible memories to have and hold but they don’t necessarily want to invest the time or money in a photo album to showcase their keepsakes. Custom Wood Photo Boxes are a great alternative to traditional photo albums and they make unique wedding gifts for couples so they have a special place for their new wedding photos. I’m super excited to share these beautifully crafted wood photo boxes with you!
From Ox Woodworx:
You know those things that you all of a sudden realize you have a thing for? Maybe you have more than a half dozen variations and you’re looking at the next and you think- Ha! I collect (fill in the blank)! And it’s funny because you can feel the depth of your dorkdom about it. I’ve identified several myself and one is containers. I love the many ways a vessel can be.
Something about holding, protecting, and somehow embodying its contents. There are so many ways to build a wooden box. From a technical aspect, there are many ways to join the wood. I wanted to build a box that feels good in your hand, a box that you run your hand over a couple times just to feel before you open or close it.
Something that attracts your eye from a quiet spot on the shelf or grabs your attention from the coffee table with a natural coloration unique to that box. If that box is to hold something special, it had to be made special. I had to use quality materials, superior joinery, and include features that I felt added to the ease of use in a simplistic way. I think I’ve done just that.
I’m proud to offer these ambrosia maple photo boxes. Each box holds 300 4×6 photos and features crisp edges lightly chamfered, half-blind dovetails, lift off top, and underlay ribbon to raise photos from each tray. Dumping photos on the floor wasn’t a risk I wanted to take.
By pulling the ribbon, each stack is lifted from the box for easy handling. Interior is sanded smooth and unfinished. Exterior is finished in a sleek satin sheen that accentuates the grain and character of the wood with the texture of marble. Exterior dimensions are 2 ½ inches by 7 ½ inches by 10 inches.
